Halifax-based power couple Justin Huston and Kristen Morse, both American-born, discovered a common love for Nova Scotia, music, and each other. Justin serves as the Deputy Minister of the Department of the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage, while Kristen co-owns the iconic, open, and relaxed Nordic spa "Nature Folk." Their relationship blossomed through GarageBand (swear to God) during the pandemic while they were living on opposite sides of the world. Their shared love of music led them to co-write songs, swap favorite tunes, and eventually fall in love. They recently released their first full-length album under the band name "No-K," which is packed with sweet, authentic lyrics and melodies. Justin and Kristen are true examples of genuine artistic expression and ardent supporters of the creative industries in Nova Scotia and beyond. We share laughs, discussions on the arts landscape in Nova Scotia and how women in the music industry face different challenges than their male counterparts.

Lindsay Kyte, a talented playwright and actress, and Darrel Cameron, a skilled music therapist and producer with Blue Acres, share a profound love for the arts that forms the bedrock of their relationship. Their mutual understanding of the creative lifestyle helps them stay strong and connected as a couple, with late nights at rehearsals or in the studio being a normal part of their day-to-day. Darrel specializes in working with patients with dementia through music therapy, empowering his clients to take ownership of their creativity. Lindsay has successfully co-written, acted in, and toured her show "Dear Rita," a heartfelt tribute to the life and achievements of celebrated Nova Scotian singer Rita MacNeil. This summer, the show will debut at Neptune Theatre, and the excitement for us included a special treat: trying on Rita's famous "red hat." Together, Lindsay and Darrel’s dedication to their crafts not only enriches their own lives but also brings joy and healing to others.

Peter White, an engineer turned stand-up comic, quickly rose to prominence in the comedy scene, being named one of the “Top 5 Up and Coming Comedians in Canada” by CBC Radio’s “So, You Think You’re Funny?” within a year of his career. He has performed at top comedy clubs, corporate events, and theatres across Canada, including prestigious festivals like Just for Laughs, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival, and the Halifax Comedy Festival for three consecutive years. Peter's comedic talents earned him an hour-long special on CTV and the Comedy Network’s Comedy Now. Beyond stand-up, he has established himself as a writer for the Gemini Award-winning "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" and the Gemini Award-nominated "That’s So Weird" on YTV. Peter's anecdotes about his university days shared with Mike at StFX, highlighting their former shenanigans and being in the loser residence! Peter has written a book on how to be funny (it’s possible for all of us!) and co-hosts his own podcast called, “30 Mins on High”. He eats only 5 types of food and is a self-proclaimed bad dresser.

Unlike most approaches to modern medicine, Namit Holey wanted to test his higher education through personal experimentation. His lab? An Ashram in India where he would spend eight months learning about holistic health, the impact of the mind on our well-being and how finding our personalized approaches to life is our greatest defence mechanism. Namit is an accomplished researcher who has discovered the benefits of preventative health and developing a strong immune system. We learn about the intricacies of cancer from a scientific lens, and juxtapose that with eastern practices of yoga and mindful practices in effort to experience better health. A fascinating conversation with a brilliant scientist who is soon off to Harvard for his post-doc!
